Kristin Kersey

Counsel

Labour and employment law has been the sole focus of my legal career. I am committed to helping employers navigate the complexities of workplace law by offering strategic, practical, and business-minded solutions. Understanding that no two workplaces are the same, I take the time to get to know each client’s unique challenges, industry, and objectives to provide tailored advice that meets their specific needs.

I work with employers in both the private and public sectors across a diverse range of industries. My practice encompasses all areas of workplace law, including employment agreements, workplace policies, grievance arbitration, collective bargaining, human rights, and workplace investigations. Whether advising on proactive strategies to mitigate risk or representing clients in disputes, I strive to find efficient and practical solutions that minimize expense and risk to clients and allow them to focus on what is important to their organization.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, I moved to Toronto for my undergraduate studies before returning home to complete my law degree at the University of Manitoba. During law school, I was named to the Dean’s Honour List and had the privilege of serving as a law clerk at the Manitoba Court of Appeal. I began my legal career in Toronto, articling at a leading management-side labour and employment law firm. I returned to Winnipeg after my call to the bar and spent eight years practicing in the Labour and Employment group of a full-service firm.

I am excited to continue to work in both Winnipeg and Toronto, bringing my experience and expertise to the clients of Hunter Legal LLP while also building a boutique employment law practice in Winnipeg. Having a presence in both cities allows me to stay engaged with the evolving employment law landscape and to provide high-quality, responsive service to clients (no matter where they are located).
